Who are we?
At a time when public spending is reduced, when wages are almost static and have not kept up with inflation, the Cathedral Foodbank aims to help families and individuals who need help to obtain enough food.
Obtaining a food pack
To obtain food from the food bank, you need to be referred by an organisation that can assess your needs and will provide a voucher that will enable you to receive a pack of food. The voucher will indicate whether a single or a family pack of food is needed. Referring agencies include, amongst others, Kaleidoscope (ARCH), CAIS and NACRO. A full list can be obtained on request, or you can view our Referrrers page.
Some folk appear without a referral voucher, and in an emergency we will provide an emergency pack. After that we expect that you will have visited one of the referring agencies and obtained a voucher.
The Cathedral Foodbank is open from 2pm to 3pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, in the Diocesan Centre, for handing out food packs. If you want to learn more about us, or need a list of referring agencies, visit us during one of these hours.
The Cathedral Foodbank is supported by the donations of local individuals, schools, local businesses, churches and other charities.
